What is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is a tailored holistic therapy that addresses all aspects of your wellbeing: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
The modality emerged as an evolution from Chiropractic practices in the 1960’s, offering a practical, science-based approach to holistic wellness.
In a few short years, Kinesiology integrated techniques from a wide range of complementary health modalities such as Chiropractic, Osteopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, nutrition, and so much more!
Kinesiology is unique in that it uses a technique called ‘muscle monitoring’ (or muscle testing) which involves applying gentle pressure to specific muscles, typically in the arm, to elicit responses in the muscle tone.
Through muscle monitoring, the practitioner gains information from the client's innate awareness (subconscious), as changes in muscle response indicate where stress is held in the body. This response is orchestrated by the central nervous system (CNS) which regulates muscle contraction and relaxation. When the CNS detects stress, it signals the muscles to contract (lock) or relax (unlock), revealing underlying issues that may not be consciously recognised.
This process allows the Kinesiology practitioner to be able to identify the root cause of stress specific to that individual based on the changes in the indicator muscle (muscle being used for ‘muscle monitoring’). This same process also allows the body to then indicate what it requires to resolve the stress – subsequently restoring the body’s innate healing capacity.
