What happens during a Kinesiology session?

During your session, you will remain fully clothed while lying on a massage table. Muscle monitoring is used to identify stress points or blockages in your system.

As your kinesiology practitioner, I will apply various non-invasive techniques from complementary health systems, including Chiropractic, Osteopathy, Cranial, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Energy Medicine and Nutrition. These may involve acupressure, bodywork, gentle massage, muscle testing, energy balancing, chakra work, meridian therapy and vibrational therapy like flower essences, among others.

All techniques are guided by your body’s responses to help restore balance and activate its own unique natural healing processes. Importantly, kinesiology works by addressing the priority issue that your body indicates needs attention first, out of all presenting symptoms. This ensures we work in alignment with your body’s innate wisdom, allowing for the most effective and natural healing process.

Additionally, I may recommend home support such as flower essences, nutritional guidance, or relaxation exercises to support your integration, further your healing and empower you in your wellbeing journey.

What should I wear to a Kinesiology session?

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows your arms and legs to be moved into different positions for muscle monitoring while lying or sitting on a massage table.

How many Kinesiology sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required varies from person to person, depending on the specific concerns being addressed; including the specific issue, duration of disharmony and your own commitment to embracing change.

In many cases, one to three sessions can significantly improve an issue, but kinesiology is often an unfolding process. As the body heals, deeper layers of imbalance may surface, requiring further work.

I generally recommend a minimum of three sessions to start. After your first session, you may feel unsure of what just happened—but by your third session, you’ll have a deeper understanding of the process and noticeable changes in how you feel. While some conditions may resolve quickly (sometimes in as little as one session), long-standing or complex issues may require more time.

Many clients also choose to continue with regular monthly or bi-monthly balances to maintain their wellbeing.

Do I have to attend the clinic in person, or can I have a session remotely?

If you're unable to attend the clinic in person, remote kinesiology sessions are available and just as effective. These sessions are conducted using a technique called surrogacy, where I use my own body as a proxy to muscle monitor on your behalf.

This process allows us to access your body’s energetic information without physical contact. The effectiveness of the session is not diminished—in fact, many clients find remote sessions equally powerful, insightful, and transformative.

Remote sessions are a great option if you're located interstate or overseas.

What can I expect after a Kinesiology session?

Each person's experience after a kinesiology session is unique.

Generally, people respond in one of three ways:

  • Immediate relief and clarity: Some feel an instant boost in mood and energy, which gradually settles into a balanced state of peace and calm.
  • Gradual shifts: Others notice subtle changes over time, such as handling situations differently or feeling less stressed—often these are first noticed by the people around them before they consciously realise it.
  • Temporary discomfort (healing response): Occasionally, people experience short-term tiredness, emotional shifts, or flu-like symptoms as the body recalibrates. This is usually temporary and often means deeper healing is happening.

These reactions are all very normal as your body adjusts and restores balance. If you have any concerns after a session, please reach out.

How can I best support myself after a session?

To honor your body’s healing process, I recommend (where possible):

  • Drinking plenty of water
  • Avoiding alcohol for at least 24 hours, especially after an intensive session
  • Getting adequate rest
  • Following any lifestyle adjustments or recommendations provided during your session to support the integration process

Each session helps you deepen your self-awareness and cultivate a space for self-care and healing.

Do I need to have a specific problem to have Kinesiology?

No, you do not need to have a specific problem to benefit from kinesiology.

While many people seek kinesiology to address specific physical, emotional, or mental concerns, it is also a powerful tool for personal growth, self-awareness, and enhancing overall wellbeing. Kinesiology can help you feel more balanced, aligned, and connected to yourself, even if you are not experiencing a particular issue. Many clients choose to have regular sessions as part of their self-care routine to maintain a sense of clarity and wellbeing.

Can children and babies have Kinesiology?

Yes! Kinesiology is safe, gentle, and highly effective for children and babies. The process is essentially the same as it is for adults, but we simply adapt the muscle monitoring to suit the child’s age, energy, and comfort level.

For children under 10, I often recommend using a technique called surrogacy, where either a parent or the practitioner muscle monitors on the child’s behalf. This is suitable for little ones who are fidgety and can't sit still for longer periods. This can be done with or without the child physically present. Using a parent as the surrogate also makes it easier to discuss what comes up and how to support the child at home.

If you have any concerns about your child’s ability to be present during a session or lie still for long periods, just let your practitioner know in advance—we’ll tailor everything to ensure your child feels safe, supported, and comfortable.

Is Kinesiology safe to receive when pregnant?

Yes, kinesiology is safe and supportive during all stages of pregnancy—from preconception through to postpartum.  During pregnancy, it can assist with symptoms like fatigue, nausea, overwhelm, and preparation for birth. Pre-birth sessions help you feel grounded, connected, and emotionally ready, while post-birth support can assist with recovery, hormone balance, and the transition into motherhood.

Do I need to believe in Kinesiology to benefit from it?

No, the process is based on the body’s biofeedback responses, meaning it bypasses the conscious mind and works directly with the nervous system and subconscious. Many people experience positive changes even if they were initially skeptical.

Does Kinesiology replace my GP or other healthcare providers?

No, Kinesiology is not a substitute for medical treatment or care from your GP or other healthcare professionals.

Kinesiology does not diagnose or treat specific diseases, instead, it focuses on balancing your body’s energy to support its natural healing ability. Kinesiology can complement medical treatments, mental health care, counselling/psychology or naturopathy, but it is not a replacement for them.

It is important to remember that you do not need to be unwell to benefit from kinesiology—it can enhance overall wellbeing, support personal growth, and facilitate many positive life changes.
